Last month I wrote about the artist Angela Deane, who acquires found snapshots and paints over the people in them to turn them into ghosts. Now I've become aware of another artist who repurposes found snapshots: Vik Muniz, a Brazilian who cuts up old photos and, as you can see above, creates new collage-based images out of them.
Muniz just had a gallery show here in New York, where I live. Unfortunately, I found out about it two days after the show ended — dang.
